Puffer UniFi ties together Google Cloud and Anchorage Digital in a push toward agentic commerce rails

Puffer UniFi’s recent partnership announcements with Google Cloud and Anchorage Digital sketch out a more concrete infrastructure stack for agentic commerce. On Sept. 22, Google Cloud joined Puffer Preconf as a Gateway participant, taking part in real-time execution and execution preconfirmation for Puffer UniFi. On Sept. 29, Anchorage Digital was named the day-one institutional custodian for Puffer UniFi, with the two sides also planning work around institutional stablecoin infrastructure, native settlement, institutional payments and agentic payments. The article argues that the hard part of agent-driven finance is not simply enabling an AI agent to make a payment. Once agents move into real production settings, institutions need identity binding, spending controls, policy enforcement, auditability and clear authority over who can move funds and under what conditions. That is where Anchorage Digital’s agentic banking framework enters the picture. On the execution side, the piece says existing blockchain infrastructure is poorly matched to 24/7, high-frequency machine workflows that depend on fast, trustworthy state feedback. In that framing, Google Cloud supports the Gateway and preconfirmation layer, while Anchorage connects institutional funds, custody and payment rails. Together with Puffer UniFi’s execution and settlement design and Ethereum’s underlying security, liquidity and state, the arrangement is presented as an attempt to build a real-time financial path for both institutions and autonomous software agents.
